Afnan Abdullah Al-Louh

Afnan Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Louh is a nurse from Gaza specializing in Midwifery and Women’s Health. She graduated in 2018 and has dedicated her career to caring for women and newborns, even under the most difficult circumstances.

Since the beginning of the war, Afnan has worked voluntarily in displacement camps, providing maternal and primary healthcare wherever her family was forced to relocate. Without receiving any salary or organizational support, she has continued serving her community out of a deep sense of humanitarian responsibility.

Afnan is also the mother of five children. Her family’s story has been marked by profound hardship. Two of her children were lost due to the severe deterioration of healthcare services in Gaza, while several of her surviving children were born prematurely and required intensive medical care during their first days of life. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to caring for others, particularly mothers and newborns facing similar struggles.

Like countless families in Gaza, Afnan’s home was destroyed during the war. Today, she and her children live in a tent built on the ruins of their former home in Al-Nuseirat. Despite living in displacement and without a stable source of income, she continues to support her community through a small medical tent that provides basic healthcare services to displaced families.

Afnan remains committed to her profession and to serving those around her, believing that compassionate healthcare can preserve dignity and hope, even in the midst of one of the world’s most challenging humanitarian crises.
