Brief aan artsen ivm naderend onheil
Met het naderende onheil in Gaza stelde Mounir een instructiebrief op aan de artsen die wij steunen.
Hierbij delen we Nederlandse versie.
Mounir: “Ik hoop nooit meer in mijn leven zo’n brief te hoeven schrijven. Hier zal ik het voorlopig aan brieven bij laten, maar hopelijk zal het voor hen werken als houvast wanneer de storm losbarst. Voor sommigen is dat al het geval. Liefs.”
Dr. Ahmed Mezied schrijft er het volgende over. Zijn woorden vatten goed het sentiment samen van alle 22 artsen die we met het initiatief Artsen in Nood nu salarissen uitbetalen en met een buddy mentaal, emotioneel en pastoraal ondersteunen.
“The war criminal Netanyahu’s speech has ended, and he threatened a full invasion of Gaza and the destruction of all the remaining areas that have not been entered before, including the neighborhood where I live.
The situation is frightening and dangerous, and unless world leaders take action, Gaza will be completely destroyed and its people forcibly displaced.
I have informed my family to prepare for the possibility of displacement and that we may never return to our homes.
Displacement is painful and bitter beyond words. We were displaced once before in January last year when there was Rafah, flowing aid, and a large city that sheltered us. Today, the situation is different there is nowhere to actually go; all of Gaza is destroyed except for some central areas where we currently live.
The future is dark and frightening, and I hope for a miracle to prevent this disaster from happening.“
